A person was killed and 14 others were injured after an explosion occurred in a cracker factory in Tantisahi of Itamati in Nayagarh district.
Meanwhile, of the 14 injured seven critical hurt patients were rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack. Others were admitted at the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
According to sources, the cracker factory suddenly caught fire which led to an explosion at around 5 pm. The reasons behind the fire are yet to be established.
“We have no clue how the explosion occurred. Soon after the explosion we rescued the victims and brought them to the hospital,” said Itamati sarpanch Manoj Sahoo.
Police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the accident.
