One arrested in R'kela minor girl murder case

The Brahmani Taranga police, led by DSP RK Mishra, have cracked the murder mystery of Sunita Kerketta, a minor girl from Gopapali under Brahmani Taranga PS, with the arrest of the accused Anil Thakur.

Sources said that Sunita, daughter of Meena, was found in a pool of blood in her room around 3.30 pm on November 3. Immediately, she was shifted to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries the next day.

Basing on the FIR lodged by Meena, the Rourkela SP visited the spot and formed a team under the leadership of DSP RK Mishra. During investigation, Anil Thakur of the same locality was arrested and during the interrogation he confessed to the crime.

He admitted that he was in love with Sunita and wanted to marry her. But Sunita was not interested in him as her marriage had already been negotiated with one Bijay lohar of Jharbeda under Bisra PS.

Being enraged at this, he went to Sunita’s house on November 3 and finding her alone he forced himself upon her. Thereafter, a heated exchange took place between them which led to Anil hitting her head with an iron crowbar injuring her severely. On Wednesday, Anil was forwarded to court.
