The State on Thursday reported another increase in the Covid-19 cases with 1,342 new infections in the 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally increased to 9,83,523.
A total of 65,146 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 2.02%.Of the new cases, 775 were from quarantine and 567 local contacts.
Khordha district reported the day's highest 477 cases followed by Cuttack at 164.The districts which reported below-100 cases were Jagatsinghpur with 78, Jajpur 66, Baleswar 59, Kendrapada 43, Mayurbhanj 41, Bhadrak 40, Nayagarh 28, Keonjhar 23, Dhenkanal 19, Rayagada and Sambalpur 18 each, Sundargarh 13, Koraput 11, Ganjam nine, Bargarh eight, Malkangiri seven, Kandhamal five, Gajapati four, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Balangir and Kalahandi three each,
Besides, 105 cases were reported from the State pool.Meanwhile, another 68 patients succumbed to the disease, mounting the total death toll to 6,236 in the State.
The maximum 13 deaths were reported from Khordha district followed by 12 each from Puri and Sundargarh, 11 from Cuttack, four from Kendrapada, three from Bargarh, two each from Baleswar and Dhenkanal and one each from Balangir, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sambalpur However, another 1,652 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 9, 65,370.
