The State has put in place a model IT application system, first of its kind in the country, for tracking of minerals production, dispatch and value accrued on real time basis through its i3MS website.

This was revealed a review meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi at the State Secretariat here on Monday. Steel and Mines Secretary Raj Kumar Sharma presented the updates.  He stated that i3MS (Integrated Mines & Mineral Management System) software use has proved very useful in mineral sector of the State. The Centre has recommended the model for use in other States.

Padhi directed the department to scale up mineral production in coming months through close monitoring and appropriate action plan.

After the meeting, Mines Director Deepak Mohanty said all relevant Central and State mining rules have been customized in the i3MS software. The software tracks end to end mineral transactions like quantum of minerals produced, transported and received by the industries. The software has been integrated with the RTO, Indian Railways, Commercial Tax, Ports and Treasury.

It was revealed that till now 392 electronic weigh bridges in 136 mines and 699 weigh bridges in 325 industries have been approved on line through this portal. Similarly, 2,71,347 e-permits and 6,312 dealer licenses have been also granted through it. Around 2.4 crore trip sheets (transit pass for trucks) have been generated through it. This web site has now been customised for a mobile application providing the facility for tracking of minerals through mobile app.

Odisha is the first State to have such a consolidated and robust IT application in mineral management, claimed an official release.

The Indian Bureau of Mines has decided to adopt this online system under Mineral Conservation and Development Rules of 1988.
