With the Odisha Government getting ready to move the Supreme Court challenging the unilateral construction of barrages upstream the river Mahanadi by the Chhattisgarh Government, Chhattisgarh Water Resources Minister Brijmohan Agrawal on Sundayasserted that Odisha would lose the battle in whichever forum it would go to.

“The Odisha Government is politicising the issue. There is no issue of dispute. However, the Odisha Government will lose the case finally,” said Agrawal.

Meanwhile, BJD spokesperson Surjya Narayan Patro said the Odisha Government is holding discussions with legal experts and would knock at the Supreme Court door soon.

Another party spokesperson, Pratap Keshari Deb, said the State Government would move the apex court this month-end pleading for an immediate halt of construction of the ongoing projects in Chhattisgarh and for formation of a Central tribunal to settle the river issue.
