The Milita Odisha Nishanibarana Abhiyan on Thursdaycondemned the State Government for lowering prices of beer and thereby encouraging people to drink alcohol.
“The Bihar Government, which clamped prohibition of country liquor from April 1, has announced complete prohibition from April 6. In contrast, the Odisha Government is zealously moving ahead by lowering the price of beer to strengthen the battalion of alcoholic persons.
It is disappointing that the Odisha Government has set a target to collect `2,000 more as excise revenue than the last year, lamented Abiyan convenor Padma Charan Nayak
Terming the action as anti-people, he demanded that the Government implement the Orissa Prohibition Act, 1956 without delay.
