'Odisha Govt hand in glove with AP, Centre'

PNS

Upset over the Union Cabinet’s recent nod for constituting the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) for execution of Polavaram irrigation project, former Union Minister and Samata Kranti Dal founder Braja Kishore Tripathy on Monday alleged that the State Government is working hand in glove with both the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Centre to execute the project.

“Since the State Government has remained silent over the project, its stand on the controversial project is unclear. Neither it is opposing the project strongly nor engaging renowned lawyers to keep its argument in the court of law against the project,” Tripathy lamented while addressing a a Press conference here.

Tripathy said the State Government’s silence is disappointing as many villages in Malkangiri district would be inundated. Over 6,950 hectares of land will be submerged and 4,822 tribals would be displaced due to the project, he said.

“The project will never become a national asset rather it will be a disaster for Odisha,” viewed Tripathy.
