The Odisha Pachhua Barga Bikash Manch on Monday submitted a memorandum to Governor Dr SC Jamir urging him to direct the State Government to fulfil its 20 demands, including 27 per cent OBC job reservation, at the earliest.

During discussion, the Manch representatives alleged that the State Government is providing 11.25 per cent reservation to the OBC category against provision of 27 per cent. While 52 per cent of the State’s population belong to the category, 11.25 reservation looks very dismal. Hence, the rest 18.75 per cent of Government jobs should be kept reserve for the category until further decision, they demanded.

They too told the Governor that OBC students are not getting reservation facility in college and other academic institutions. People belonging to carpenter sub-caste are not being provided Cast Certificate, they alleged.

They requested him to ask the Government to appoint State OBC Commissioner soon so that matters relating to the category would be taken up with it. Manch president Krushna Chandra Prushti, working president Dhaleswar Mania, general secretary Saroj Kumar Behera, secretary Mahendra Kumar Kayasth and worming member Kanduricharan Nandi were present.

The Governor has assured that he would soon discuss the issue with the Government regarding their demands, informed Mania in a statement.
