Nuapada OAS body threatens pen-down stir

Alleging police inaction, the OAS Officers’ Association, Nuapada district branch has threatened to resort to a pen-down strike if the culprits, who misbehaved with the Khariar BDO and the Nuapada DRDA PD on September 30, are not arrested soon.

The officers have also alleged that the police have failed to initiate action against the culprits, Subash Baghel and Manoj Tandi of Nehena village, who had reportedly threatened the BDO over phone of dire consequence for filing case with the police.

“Though FIRs were lodged on the incident day, the Khariar police are yet to arrest the accused who are moving freely in front of the police station as well as in the locality,” the association alleged. The members had conducted a meeting at the Nuapada ADM office and drafted a memorandum against the alleged police inaction. “We will go on pen-down strike if the accused are not arrested within a week,” the officers mentioned in their memorandum submitted to the Collector, Nuapada.

In the meanwhile, the accused have obtained a stay order from the High Court against any possible arrest. “Such inaction of the police administration to create space for the accused to obtain bail from the court will discourage the officials to work efficiently,” the OAS officers have expressed.
