Foundation-stone of a 10-MW photovoltaic solar plant of NTPC Talcher Kaniha was laid on Wednesday by NIPC Director (Technical) AK Jha.
The solar project is being constructed in the NTPC Talcher Kaniha premises at two locations, Patharmunda (2 MW) and Stage II Township (8 MW) in around 45 acres of land. The construction work has been awarded to BHEl.
The plant would generate 14.1 million units of electricity annually, which would be equivalent to the power requirement of about 12,000 households.
With zero pollution, the plant would contribute 13,982 tonnes reduction in CO2 generation.
The NTPC has already commissioned two 10-MW solar PV projects at Dadri and Andaman & Nicobar. Another 35-MW solar PV is under implementation.
