laboratory testing of drinking water supplied by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) department in Nuapada district has revealed that the water supplied was contaminated. The water sample and stool of affected persons had been sent to the Kalahandi regional medical research center by the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Sinapali for examination. “We have received the report on August 11 and there was presence of cholera virus in the water,” said an official.

Two weeks ago, one Naba Majhi (40) of Jhankarmunda village of Makhapadar gram panchayat in Sinapali block had died of diarrhoea and over 100 people were affected.
