While the Odisha Government is strongly moving ahead for Geographical Identification (GI) tag for Rasgola, the Omfed on Wednesday launched this traditional Odia sweet for consumers.
In Odisha, Rasgola is associated with Rath Yatra of lord Jagannath since the Eleventh Century while West Bengal is claiming this sweet as its own product.
Against this backdrop, milk major Omfed has released over 20 kg of Rasgola and Gulab Jamun.
After its ‘Premium Milk’ launched recently got encouraging feedback from consumers, the Omfed decided to go in for such a move to capture the huge market.
Both the delicacies of Rasgola and Gulab Jamun, hygienically packed in tin boxes, are available across the Omfed’s exclusive ice cream parlours in Bhubaneswar. Omfed Managing Director Bishnupada Sethi is the brain behind the move.
One-kg pack of each delicacy is priced at `170 and a half-kg pack at `90, said Omfed General Manager (Marketing) Basant Mishra.
