After tolerating for long, the tribals of Koraput district have raised their voice against the Maoists, who are at present o a killing spree.

They lodged their protest in a huge rally on Monday against the Maoists in Narayanpatna under the banner of Naxal Hinsa Prapidita Manch.

The Maoists targeted some tribes of the region and killed branding them as police informers in last couple of days. A feeling insecurity has made them united now.

The Manch consisting of more than 2,000 tribals took out the rally and appealed to the Maoists to refrain from violence. “As the Maoists are against development and are killing our innocent people, they must not be our well-wishers. So we want them to leave our area,” said Suresh Sirika, a leader of the Manch.

The Manch submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through BDO Narayanpatna and SDPO laxmipur. Manch demanded to improve basic amenities like health, education and communication facilities in every pocket of the area.

Operation blue-moon is planned to provide such amenities in the area, said a top official. laxmipur SDPO Hemant Kumar Padhi assured all support.

Notably, tribals of Chhatishgarh too held such rallies against the Red extremists a few days back.
