A notification for the polls was issued on Friday by the Higher Education Department.

While the aspiring candidates can file their nominations on September 16 from 9 am to 12 noon, the last date of withdrawal of nominations is September 18 between 2 pm and 4 pm. The final list of contestants will be announced at 5 pm on the same day.

Meanwhile on Friday, tension gripped the BJB College in Bhubaneswar after a clash between two rival groups of students, which left some students injured. Earlier on Thursday night, bombs had been hurled at the BJB College ladies’ hostel, following which the inmates have vacated the hostels.

A bomb was also hurled in the city-based Maharishi College at the Principal room.

Violence had also rocked the Rajdhani College and the Utkal University in the city in which several students were injured.
