No sign of letup to SCB junior doctors' strike

PNS

There is no sign of any letup to the indefinite strike by junior doctors of the SCB Medical College Hospital here even as healthcare facilities in the hospital suffered a little as the strike entered third day on Wednesday.

Demanding adequate security after a junior doctor of the hospital was allegedly attacked by some attendants of a patient, the junior doctors have been boycotting hospital duties since Monday evening.

The hospital authorities however, deploying more senior doctors to attend the patients, are trying their best to ensure that the basic healthcare facilities in important departments and wards do not deteriorate further.

Although, several officials of the health department and Hospital authorities held several rounds of discussions with the striking doctors, the latter refused to relent and reiterated their demand for arrest of Monday’s attackers.

Although the local police have already arrested one of the attackers and forwarded him to court, the striking doctors want arrests of all those who attacked the junior doctor after their patient died on Monday evening, just hours after her admission in the hospital.
