A memorandum has been submitted to Governor SC Jamir urging for his intervention for holding of an annual meeting of the Odisha State Branch of the Red Cross Society on Saturday. As the Odisha branch is not organising its annual meeting for the last eight years, the annual reports and the financial reports from 2008-09 to 2015-16 are yet to be approved, said Indian Red Cross Society life member Dillip Dashsharma here on Satgurday. This matter was also discussed at the annual meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society recently at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, he pointed out.

He also informed that Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda had instructed the State Red Cross unit president to apprise the issue to the State Governor.

Members of the Odisha Branch of the Red Cross Society also demand that the branch’s annual meetings be held regularly, said Dashsharma. President Pranab Mukherjee gave four seals to the Odisha Red Cross Society branch in the field of blood donation and blood collection at the national annual meet, he informed.
