A scheduled discussion on the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh could not be held in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as Congress leaders kept shouting slogans over the Triple Talaq Bill.
The Speaker adjourned the Upper House four times till Thursday due to the pandemonium.
The BJD had moved a Calling-Attention notice for a discussion on the Mahanadi issue and it had been accepted. Prasanna Acharya and AU Singh Deo had moved the motion to present Odisha’s stand on the issue. On Tuesday, MP Prasanna Acharya had said the BJD would raise its voice against the Centre’s dillydallying attitude on formation of a tribunal to resolve the issue and expose its double standards in the matter.
