The unemployed youths in Jharsuguda district after registering their names have to wait for long to get a single call letter from the District Employment Exchange (DEE). This is the trend of the last 20 years.
The industries are also not giving intimation of employment avenues to the local employment exchange. In the process, the plan of the Government to provide jobs through employment exchanges has turned to be a complete failure.
According to sources, at present 19,106 candidates have been registered in the Jharsuguda Employment Exchange, out of which 14,120are boys and rest 4,986 girls. Out of total 14,120 candidates, 1,293 are graduates, 6,593 intermediates, 930 diploma holders, 1,309 ITI holders, 61 pharmacists, 80 trained teachers, 95 nurses, 31 typists and 23 stenographers. Unfortunately, not a single call letter has been issued to anybody by the District Employment Exchange for any Government or private jobs.
In the present system, all the Government and private agencies are adopting online job application. Hence, the role of employment exchanges has been restricted to only registration of the prospective job seekers and nothing else. The growing industries are also selecting candidates of other States without considering local educated youths of the district. The political leaders are also not taking up this issue due to personal interests.
There is a demand that the State Government must take a positive decision in the matter.
