Accordingly notices were installed in all these petrol pumps of the city on Sunday. Rourkela administration has also decided to conduct a picketing with police personnel at the patrol pumps for about one week so that the public of Rourkela city get the desired awareness about the initiative. “The staff of the petrol pumps have been directed to guide the public so that they get accustomed to use of helmet,” said ADM K Sudarsan Chakroborty.

The administration, however, has directed not to impose any penalty on the defaulters for a period of at least one week and conduct an awareness campaign in this period.

Besides, the Rourkela administration has been considering monitoring the implementation of this initiative through close circuit cameras in patrol pumps. According to sources, out of all the petrol pumps of Rourkela city, only four of them have not yet installed close circuit cameras on their pumps and they have been requested to install at the earliest.
