In view of rising mishaps, the district administration here decided to ban auto rickshaw in private schools for carrying children. The decision was taken recently in a high level meeting organized under the chairmanship of the district Collector. SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, RTO laxman Sahu, sub collector, Kanhu Charan Dhir, District Education Officer Sangram Sahu, District Project Co-coordinator (SSA) Saraswati Behera along with some public school principals joined the meeting.
As auto rickshaws engaged in the private schools for carrying the children were plying overloaded in an unsafe condition, it was decided to stop engaging them for conveyance purpose. It was also decided that direction would be given to the private school authorities to ensure grill barricades in the Tata Magic vehicles that were engaged to carry students to schools, stated RTO Sahu.
Instead of engaging small vehicles, the SP stressed on engaging buses for carrying the children. The seats of the buses should be comfortable for the children to sit and the vehicles must carry fire extinguisher and other security measures, besides valid permit, fitness, up to date documents on insurance and tax. It was directed to engage experienced drivers and helpers in the vehicles. These apart, the vehicles should be painted with yellow colour.
