State Congress president Niranjan Patnaik on Saturday said the Narendra Modi Government is running only on propagation, promises and betrayal principles; and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s claims are meaningless.
“Pradhan termed the farm Bills as historic. All programmes, whether demonetisation or GST, are ‘historic’ as they have destroyed the country’s economy.
The farm Bills will worsen the economy further,” said Patnaik.To Pradhan’s claim that the Mandi and MSP system would continue, Patnaik wanted to know why then the Centre has not fixed MSPs of crops. He also wanted to know why provision of punishment has not been made for those who purchase crops below MSPs.“About 60% sharecroppers and marginal farmers in Odisha don’t go to Mandis,” said Patnaik.
