The market  committees of Nilgiri town have adopted self-resections from Thursday for month of October beginning in view of spiking of Covid 19 cases  in the area. As per the decisions, the markets will function till 1 pm and there will  be a shutdown  on every Saturday  and Sunday.

In fact , after a spurt of Covid 19 positive cases was witnessed, the initial decision of the local administration was to declare Sanaota area as a containment zone and accordingly  preparations were made . However, it was felt that by declaring Sanaota as a containment zone , half of the town would be affected. Therefore , the market committees decided to impose self restriction  for  the shops and establishments under Nilgiri town  for the month of October . The essential services  including medicine stores and milk booths were exempted from the restrictions.

Similarly, the market committees in Soro town too  have decided to observe a four-day shutdown from Thursday  and on all Saturdays and Sundays  the shops would be open till 2 pm. In all other working days the  market activities  will be operational till 9 pm.

Meanwhile, total 7,694 Covid positive cases in the district  including 94 on Thursday, have been reported  and number of death was 35, while about 6,250 patients  have recovered from the disease.
