A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday interrogated Abhijeet Sanjay Jambure, a software firm employee who was recently arrested by the Odisha Special Task Force (STF) for his alleged involvement in sharing of OTP (One-Time Password) with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).

Abhijeet was arrested from Maharashtra’s Pune on June 29 and brought to Bhubaneswar on transit. A graduate in statistics from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University, Gujarat, he was working in software firm WIPRO.

The day’s development assumes significance as the top probe agencies will try to ascertain more information from the accused regarding his links with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan.

Earlier, STF officials had informed that Abhijeet met one Danish alias Syed Danish Ali Naqvi of Khanki, Faislabad, Pakistan, through a Facebook Messenger who identified himself as freelancer at “Chegg” in 2018.

It was Danish who introduced Abhijeet to his friend Khurram alias Abdul Hamid of Karachi. Khurram is believed to be a senior Pakistan Army intelligence officer having a big base/network of agents in India.

As per the instruction of Khurram, Abhijeet used to transfer money to PIOs working in India. Abhijeet also talked to at least seven Pakistan citizens and 10 Nigerian citizens through WhatsApp.
