The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) visited Gamei and Kansbans and interacted with about 60 land losers. Member KHC Rao categorically asked the applicants not to repeat their complaints which they had mentioned in their petitions to the commission earlier.
A field enquiry by the Basudevpur Tehsil and land Acquisition Office staff proved there is some private land occupied illegally during the execution of the work. In Kansbans Sanskar Yojana, there is absolute violation of human rights, said Kansbans Banya Niyantrana Committee president Gobinda Chandra Nayak.
The victims of Reba-Kapali Sanskar Yojana submitted a memorandum to the team. Naguan Gram Panchayat sarpanch Subas Gochchayat, Govindpur sarpanch Subas Mahakud, social activist Bhagirathi Jena, Dalit victim Kalandi Malik and freedom fighter Hrudananda Rout also met the investigation team and submitted their memorandum for the protection of human rights in the area.
