NHRC seeks report from Govt in 4 weeks

PNS

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an action taken report (ATR) from the Health and Family Welfare Secretary within four weeks on the alleged medical negligence that worsened condition of a student.

The NHCR issued this notice considering a petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy.

In his petition, Tripathy had alleged that Tapas Kumar nayak, a student belonging to Banitia village in Bhadrak district is battling for life after he was administered a wrong injection in the Government hospital on October 22.

He informed that Tapas was admitted in a private hospital at Cuttack as his condition worsened after getting the ‘wrong’ injection. The CD has admitted the flaw, he said.

This is a classic case of failure and negligence of Health Department. It poses serious questions of human rights,” Tripathy alleged.
