Rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy, also a practicing advocate in Supreme Court, has sought intervention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the alleged murder of the OJS lady officer Anupama Behera, which took place last month at her Government accommodation in Baleswar.
According to his allegation, the lady judge may have been killed by at least two or more acquaintances of her on March 14. The body had started showing signs of decomposition when detected.
While doors of her house were closed from inside, the windows were open. Her face was covered with a pillow, which had blood stains on it, giving clear sign of a strangulation case. Blood oozed out from the nose and mouth of the dead judicial officer, while her lower and upper limbs had bruises.
The injuries might have taken place during her struggle with her killers. The exact cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, he mentioned in his petition.
“Under the circumstances I prayed to the NHRC to investigate into the case and direct the State to solve the mystery behind the murder of the lady judge besides paying compensation to the family members of the deceased and taking utmost care of the child who lost his mother,” informed Tripathy. He added that the NHRC has already sought ATR from the Baleswar SP in the case.
