The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a reminder to the State Chief Secretary to submit the documents regarding illegal allotment of land as well houses by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB).
The NHRC issued the reminder as the required information and documents about the proceedings on October 15, 2015 asked by the Commission within six weeks were not submitted by the Chief Secretary.
The NHRC in an order directed the Chief Secretary to submit the required documents within four weeks, failing which the commission will invoke Section 13 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, which will lead to summoning for personal appearance.
Taking cognizance of a case filed by Human Rights Watch secretary Sangita Swain, the NHRC had asked for an action taken report from the Chief Secretary on what steps were taken against illegal allotment of Government land as well as houses of BDA, CDA and OSHB in the past years.
