Taking a serious view over the alleged inhuman behaviour of the Puri SP with the wife and children of deceased Bidyadhar Pradhan, whose body was found at the farmhouse of Bidyadhar Khuntia on April 3, 2013 in Puri, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the DGP to probe the allegation personally.
The commission directed the DGP to submit report within six weeks and at the same time asked him to keep a complete vigil over the investigation process of the case filed by Bidyadhar’s wife Kanakalata Pradhan.
The Puri SP was also asked to submit the current status of the investigation within six weeks also.
Kanakalata had moved the commission alleging that though she filed FIR at the Puri Sadar police station on April 3, 2013 seeking a proper inquiry into the mysterious murder, nothing tangible has happened as yet.
“Despite several appeals to the SP for a proper inquiry and justice to us, the SP instead consoling us treated inhumanly,” alleged Kanakalata in her petition on August 2.
Acting on the petition, the NHRC has on September 9 directed the DGP to personally probe the allegation leveled against the SP and also asked him to keep a strict vigil on the investigation process.
