The Dakhin Odisha Unnayan Parishad (DOUP) has opposed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) illegally charging excess toll fee at the Gurapalli tollgate near Kesapur in Ganjam district.
It might be mentioned that the tollgate is collecting Rs 75 for the registered small vehicle (four-wheelers) instead of the fixed rate of Rs 40.
A delegation led by DOUP convenor Rabi Rath on Monday met the NHAI CGM (Technical) and filed a written complaint to him demanding stoppage of the illegal toll collection and taking stringent action against the leaseholder.
Rath also threatened that if the problems are not solved, the Parishad would take to streets in coming days.
