PNS

The BJP on Monday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to give protection to one Keshab Mahakud, a physically-challenged person of Kashikiari village in Nayagarh district, who was brutally attacked by politician-sponsored goons a few days ago.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, BJP leaders mentioned that Mahakud became a target of some corrupt individuals, whose unholy nexus with unscrupulous politicians, corrupt officials and police personnel has been exposed relentlessly by the victim.

Notably, a gang of hooligans including Baru Parida, Kanhei Nayak, Nibasi Parida, Nalu Parida, Bharat Nayak and Ashok Nayak had mercilessly attacked Mahakud with iron rods while he was on his way to bus stand on September 22. Due to the attack, his hand and two legs were damaged. The miscreants had fled from the spot by taking all his personal documents including his voter ID and BPl card.

After getting information from a local, the Mahipur police had rescued him and sent him to a hospital in Nayagarh. When his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Capital Hospital and then shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack.

In the SCB Medical College Hospital, he was again threatened by some goons. He suddenly fled from the hospital fearing for his life and approached the BJP in a very critical condition. The party condemned the act of barbarism and requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter.
