The Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital is alleged to be failing to provide proper treatment to its patients. Recently, the hospital drew flak for the death of a twin newborns due to lack of proper medical attentionby the authorities. One Suru Sharma (24), wife of Bharat Sharma of Marwari Para, was admitted in the hospital on Monday following labour pain.
In absence of any doctors, the nurses attended the patient. When the patient gave birth to her first son, nurses declared him born dead. While the family members were busy in performing last rites of the first child, the patient again delivered a second child. The nurses also declared him dead. The most important is that no doctor came forward to look after the health of the mother or the newborns even after four hours of delivery. Aggrieved by the apathy, the family members have lost all faith in the hospital. The mother-in-law of the patient alleged, "Being poor, we were not given proper medical attention by the hospital authorities."
