Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday directed the Panchayati Raj Department to construct more 2,000 km of cement concrete (CC) roads under the Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana in rural areas by March 2017.
The Chief Minister issued this direction while chairing a review meeting on the progress of concrete road construction works in rural areas at the State Secretariat here. Patnaik said CC roads should be constructed in PVTG and SC-infested villages on a priority basis.
The State Government has allocated Rs1,000 crore for the Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana in the current year’s Budget, said an official release.
Among others Panchayati Raj Department Arun Sahu, Chief Secretary AP Padhi and Development Commissioner B Balkrishnan were present.
