Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma on Tuesday said a chargesheet would be filed against city-based engineering student Tarini Prasad Roy, who is accused of hacking the official website of the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) four days back.

Meanwhile, the Khandagiri police released the student on a personal recognisance (PR) bond.

“In this case, bail can be granted to the culprit at the Police Station. We are planning to file a chargesheet against him. Though he had no ill intention in doing this, he has committed the act of hacking,” said Sharma. Meanwhile, Roy said he had no idea that the website of a reputed institution like the OUAT could be hacked so easily.

“I had no ill intention. As part of our practical examination, I was experimenting how a website can be hacked. I had never visited the OUAT website after I tried to manipulate its coding,” said Roy, adding, “I never imagined that the website was so hack-prone.”

Meanwhile, OUAT V-C Manoranjan Kar said, “We will take steps to improve cyber security of our website.”
