The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday said it would stage a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here on Friday demanding a free and fair probe either by the CBI or the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the chit fund scams in the State.
Alleging that the State Government is diverting the public mind from the chit fund scams by raising the issue of Special Category State status (SCS), NCP Bhubaneswar district president Ganesh Das at a Press conference here said, “The steps taken by the State Government in dealing with the chit fund scams are not at all satisfactory.
While allegations have already been levelled against some Ministers and ruling party MlAs, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is busy organising a mass rally in New Delhi to press SCS demand by spending Rs 10 crore instead of ensuring refund of hard-earned money of the common people who have been duped by chit fund firms.”“We will hold a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan and submit a memorandum to the Governor seeking his intervention in the issue,” said Das.
