Nayagarh villagers grab property, ostracise man

PNS

Fifty-four-year-old Sanyasi Pradhan has appealed for immediate justice to the Nayagarh District Magistrate alleging that some persons in his Godimoda village under the Sarnakul police station have forcefully grabbed his property.

Sanyasi has also alleged in his complaint that he and his nephew have been excommunicated from the village and he is not being allowed to cultivate his land.

His nephew has been ostracised for keeping relation with him. Angry villagers have broken down his Indra Avas Yojana house, Sanyasi has further alleged.

Sanyasi owned 12 decimal land including his house. Three years ago, he fell ill, and the whole family went out of station for treatment, locking their home.

On their return, he found that some villagers had occupied his land and house. They refused to vacate the land. Despite his complaint to the police, no action was taken against the culprits, he has alleged.

He approached court for justice and won the case. The court ordered the Sarnakul police station to clear the land encroachment as soon as possible. But the police have ignored the court order and are helping the goons, alleged Sanyasi.

Meanwhile, in a kangaroo court at the village, Sanyasi and his family have been socially boycotted. He is also not allowed to cultivate his fields.

His nephew Jagannath Pradhan who extended a supportive hand to him has also been excommunicated from the village and his Indra Awas Yojana house has been pulled down.
