BJD MlA Pramila Mallik’s ‘Amar ladoo’ (immortal sweets) remark on farmer suicides has at last drawn flak from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who warned her to refrain from making such irresponsible statements.
However, Mallik said she has not received any such communication neither from Patnaik nor from his office.
Notably, Mallik, president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal and a former Minister, had on Sundaysuggested to the opposition parties to give Amar ladoo to the farmers so that they would not die.
Earlier in the day, leaders of opposition parties, including BJP State Mahila Morcha president Surama Padhi and PCC president Prasad Harichanda, slammed Mallik for making the statement over farmers’ plights.
Members of the Mahila Congress burnt Mallic’s effigy in protest against her remark.
