On Friday, the State Government has received a letter from the Centre to fix a date for the proposed meeting.

“A letter was received from the Water Resources Ministry on Friday evening to fix a suitable date for the proposed meeting between the two Chief Ministers at New Delhi as had been announced by the Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti recently,” said BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb.

He said a decision to this effect would be taken after the Chief Minister takes stock of the status of the Mahanadi issue with senior Government officials at a review meeting here.

“Accordingly, the scheduled date will be finalised and the Water Resources Ministry will be intimated within a week,” Deb added.

Earlier, Union Minister Bharti had announced to convene a meeting of both the Chief Minister between September 10 and 20 to sort out the dispute involving barrages being constructed upstream the Mahanadi by the Chhattisgarh Government mutually.
