Naveen hoodwinking people for 16 yrs: BJP

PABITRA SENAPATY

The BJP on Saturday termed the Naveen Patnaik Government as ‘nonperforming’ and ‘inefficient’ and alleged that the common people of the State have been deprived of their legitimate basic needs as the Government has failed on all fronts.

Addressing a Press Conference here, BJP State president Basant Panda said this as the BJD Government completed two years of its fourth term on the day.

“There has been no development in the standard of living of the people even as the State is rich in natural resources and a hardworking human force. The Naveen Patnaik Government has only mastered in hoodwinking people by using Central funds in its own name in his 16 years of rule,” he alleged.

He slammed the Chief Minister for not taking any action against BJD leaders involved in the chit fund scam and misleading people giving wrongful information vis-à-vis Central aid coming under various schemes and exaggerating project implementations.

“While the Centre is giving a subsidy of Rs 27 per a kg of rice, it is disappointing that the State Government, with contribution of only Rs 2, claims the Re 1-a-kg rice scheme as its own,” said Panda.

He said the BJD Government’s claim of constructing 10 lakh houses in two years’ time is totally false. “The Government informed the State Assembly that it has so far constructed 3.02 lakh houses by December 2015. But its claim outside the House only meant to mislead people,” he said.

Similarly, the Government has failed in providing electricity connections to villages and imparting quality education at all levels, he alleged.

“A whopping 41 per cent of households are yet to get electricity connections. As many as 87 per cent primary schools have no rooms for each class and 95 per cent of such schools have only one teacher,” he said.

The situation of the health sector is also pitiable, he said. “Out of 4,682 sanctioned doctor posts, 1,062 posts are lying vacant. Many CHCs and PHC have no doctors,” alleged Panda.
