: Though BJP leaders and Zilla Parishad Members of Mayurbhanj are yet to formally announce the name of their candidate for the post of ZP Vice-President, Narendra Sahu, who has won as ZP Member from Zone-41 of Jashipur block, is going to be the most probable unanimous choice of the party, according to reliable sources.
The election is to take place on Friday.
Since the most important post of ZP President has already gone to Sujata Murmu, a tribal leader, the party’s decision-makers, for the last few days, have been seriously considering to hand over the second important ZP post (Vice-President) to a leader of the OBC category. Narendra Sahu, an OBC, very well fits into this scheme of things.
Once the BJP formally decides in favour of Sahu’s candidature, election for the ZP VP post may not be necessary because the saffron party enjoys an overwhelming majority of 49 in a council of 56 in the Mayurbhanj ZP. Sahu becoming the ZP VP now seems to be a foregone conclusion pending a formal announcement.
