The flying squad of the Excise Department on Saturday arrested one person at Jatni, and seized 10 gram of heroin and 300 gram of ganja worth over Rs 1 lakh from his possession.
Jaganmohan Pattnaik (45) of Nuagaon in Khurda district was booked under Sections 20 and 21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, an Excise official said. The accused was trapped while he was going to sell the contraband to some drug peddlers. “He had been dealing in the stuff, procured from West Bengal, for the past several years,” said flying squad IIC Ramachandra Mishra.
“Pattnaik, a habitual offender, had been arrested six months ago for illegal sale of narcotic substances,” he added.
