It’s bad news for animal lovers. The only zebra, a male, at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, was found dead in the enclosure number 34 (A) on Monday morning.
Though the reason of the death of the animal was yet to be ascertained, the zoo authorities suspected that lightning last evening claimed the life of the 2 years and 6 months old zebra. As per a release issued by the zoo authorities, there was no symptom of weakness and the movement of the animal was normal. The exact reason behind the death can be known after postmortem, the release added.
Notably, four zebras, including the deceased one, had been brought to Nandankanan from Israel’s Tel Aviv zoo in September, 2015.
