Nandankanan-airport stretch to be declared ‘no tolerance’ zone

PNS

In view of frequent violation of traffic rules on the busiest route from Nandankanan to the airport in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate police have decided to declare the 19-km stretch of the road as a ‘no tolerance’ zone.

“Any kind of traffic rule violations on this particular route will not be tolerated,” said Twin City Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi. Stringent action would be taken against the traffic violators. Not only roads, but also the major squares under flyovers in the State capital would be included under ‘no tolerance’ zones, he told a media house.

The Commissionerate police are also planning to appoint young traffic personnel in place of elderly ones. About 120 personnel are being trained to tackle the violators and they are likely to be appointed by the end of this month.
