While inaugurating a grand celebration of Sri Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th Birth Anniversary in Puri near the beach on Saturday, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal said that the very paths shown by Guru Nanak Dev are most relevant to global peace.

The three-day function beginning April 4 was organised by Puri based Guru Nanak Dev Religious and Charitable Trust, where the Governor was present as chief guest. He also quoted poems of Ukalmani Gopabandhu Das, Santh Bhima Bhoi and other laurels of Odisha.

Prof Lal said that the precious preaches of Guru Nanak 550 years ago are relevant for the present age which is tension-ridden and strife-torn and in search of peace.

Quoting doctrines of KarmaYoga of the Bhagabat Gita, besides the verses of holy Upnishad, he informed that all are bound to duties only without any aspiration for results. That are also wholly reflected in philosophy and doctrines of Guru Nanak, said Lal.

He added that Guru Nanak was always in quest of truth and believed thatalmighty is governing the whole universe.

Notably, Guru Nanak had visited the Jagannath Temple a number of times and stayed near the sea beach. He founded a mutt named Bauli Mutt which still exists. It has also a branch named Mangu Mutt in Cuttack.
