As many as 12 persons, including the bullet shot injured and MlA of Aul, on Friday appeared before the RDC (Central) Akhila Bihari Ota for recording their statements in the Namatara police firing incident.
The injured victims, who include some women and children, in the shootout incident which took place on March 8, 2015 are yet to be healed. They brought their sorry plight to the notice of the RDC and demanded action against the errant police officials, besides free treatment and succor.
“I hope the RDC would submit a proper and factual report to the State Government,” stated Aul MlA Debendra Sharma.
While talking to media people after the second day of the inquiry, RDC Ota stated that he came across several allegations by the victims .The major allegation was that they had still not recovered and they needed treatment. Though the State Government provided free treatment at the SCB MCH for more than one month and later, the doctors asked them to conduct X-Ray and health checkups, several Namatra victims failed to go to the SCB. Nor did they take medicine regularly, Ota said.
“I have directed the district Collector to initiate steps for taking all the injured to the SCB on Tuesday for conducting health checkup,” stated Ota.
In last two days as many as 23 persons appeared before the RDC who is conducting an inquiry into the alleged police highhandedness and atrocity on innocent people of Namatara. On Saturday, some police officials and Government employees will depose.
