Nalco launched on Wednesday an innovative Employee Social Responsibility (ESR) programme to mark the New Year.

The programme offers employees a satisfying way to meaningfully contribute towards social causes. Immediately after unveiling this unique scheme, hundreds of employees came forward to support this initiative by way of contributing Rs 3,000 each towards education of girl child. The company will match with equal grant for the same. The programme will enable the company to augment the existing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme with ESR through direct participation of employees. On the occasion, Nalco Ki Ladlis were handed over hygiene kits and blankets were distributed to organisations working for the poor and dibyang.

Nalco CMD Dr Tapan Kumar Chand said, “Nalconians are known for being ordinary citizens, with extraordinary attitude. Today, our employees have shown they are willing to go an extra mile.”

Senior management officials along with workers’ unions’ representatives from Corporate Office and across all units and regional offices discussed the business strategy and way forward in 2019 in a meeting under the leadership of Dr Chand. One of the notable decisions in 2019 is to introduce cashless model for MSMEs by way of supply of input materials from Nalco and lending marketing support for finished products of MSMEs, making the units ab-initio economic viable and building an industrial ecosystem around the mother plant. This will enable promotion of local employment where more than 2,000 people will be engaged in 200 such MSMEs.
