The Nalco on Friday scaled up its project of launching free electric vehicles (EVs) service at different locations in Puri by adding five more vehicles under the “Swachh Iconic Place” project.

The vehicles are plying between the Jagannath Ballav Mutt and the Jagannath Temple.

Union Mines Secretary Anil Mukim flagged off the vehicles in presence of Nalco CMD Dr TK Chand and Puri Collector Jyoti Prakash Das.

A three-language music CD by prominent singers in Odia, Hindi and Bengali to promote the Jagannath culture was also launched.

The Nalco is carrying out a number of activities, including development and beautification of the Gandhi Park, multi-storied car parking at sea beach, building a 300-room Atithi Niwas at Malatipatpur and renovation of the Niladri Vihar museum inside the Jagannath Temple.

The free public service would be maintained by the Nalco for the next five years.
