Thousands of BJD party workers led by Health Minister Naba Kisore Das staged a Padyatra from the Jharsuguda Bus-Stand to Jhanda Chowk ground in support of the party’s Jharsuguda Municipality Chairperson candidate Reena Hathi and 24 Ward Councillor nominees.

Das said that if voted in all tiers of the Government, the BJD can expedite the development of Jharsuguda by working in synergy with the State Government and clinching the grants required to undertake new projects. "People should vote for BJD candidates," Das appealed to residents in several election meetings on Monday.

From March 20, Das has been campaigning nonstop to mobilise support for the party and ensure its victory in the elections in Jharsuguda, Brajrajnagar and Belpahar municipalities.

Targeting opposition party BJP, Das said development is possible only by the BJD Government. "After sweeping the panchayat elections, our party is confident of a landslide victory in the Urban Local Body (ULB) polls," he asserted.

During the Padyatra, Das interacted with residents, heard their problems and highlighted various schemes implemented by the Naveen Patnaik Government.

BJD observer Bishnu Prasad Kedia, Chairman candidate Ranee Hati, Town president Sandeep Awasthy and BJD local leaders Raju Panigrahi, Harish Ganatra, Pintu Padhi also addressed the gathering at Jhanda Chowk field.
