The Vigilance police on Saturday caught a woman doctor of the Sinapali Community Health Centre in Nuapada district red-handed while she was accepting bribe from a sweeper of the hospital to clear his salary arrears.
Doctor Sukanti Panda had asked sweeper Mahesh Sahisa to pay her Rs 7,000 to clear his arrears of the last three months. Following this, Mahesh lodged a written complaint with Bhawanipatna Vigilance DSP Satyaban Mahananda.
Based on the complaint, a joint team of Vigilance sleuths from Kalahandi and Nuapada laid a trap. While Sukanti was accepting the bribe from Mahesh, the sleuths raided her office room.
During a search, they seized Rs 7,000 from her possession.
Sukanti was taken to the Bhawanipatna Vigilance office for interrogation following her arrest.
