MP demands passenger train for Kendrapada

PNS

Kendrapada BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty on Wednesday asked a question in Parliament to know when the people of Kendrapada district would have passenger train service. There is now only freight train service in the district, he pointed out.

Mohanty reminded that during the Budget Session, when he had mentioned about unavailability of passenger train service in Kendrapada. the Railway Ministry replied that the Kendrapara Road railway station is just 5 km from Cuttack, for which it is not operationally feasible for any rail connectivity for Kendrapada. Mohanty clarified that the Kendrapara Road railway station is not in Kendrapada district but close to Cuttack and this railway station is as far as 60 km away from Kendrapada. He said that Kendrapada should have passenger train service, which would create employment opportunities for local youths, generate revenue and assist in overall development of the district.
