A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Institute of Odia Studies and Research (IOSR) and the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative (CMGI) under the General Administration Department of the Government for increasingly using Odia language in administrative activities and programmes of the Government.
According to the MoU, both the organisations would work unitedly to make it happen by laying out the plans to use the language in the offices. The IOSR members said they would provide technical guidance at free of cost, but the State Government has to create infrastructure for that.
In the first phase, Government letters, gazettes and documents relating to various plans would be translated. Officials of different departments would be given training for use of the language and use of Odia Unicode software in the computer. IOSR president linguist Prof Debi Prasanna Pattanayak, advisor Dr Omkarnath Mohanty and member secretary Dr Subrat Kumar Prusty from the IOSR and GA Department Special Secretary Nitin Chandra, Additional Secretary Nandakishore Sethi from the State Government were present during the sign of MoU.
